A last minute invite to dinner turned into a great evening in a place I would not have otherwise visited. About fifteen kilometres from Avignon, Cavaillon is in an area known for producing good melons, and I can attest to that!
My hosts lived in a two story building on a main road across from an ambulance garage so I didn’t get to see much of the town, it’s on my list for a visit. The major feature that I saw was the Colline St-Jacques, an impressive rock wall running for a considerable distance along the main road.

There was a light show further along from the house, but the dinner conversation was more interesting than the potential appeal of the lights.
While we were gathered around the barbeque talking we could see a fireworks display towards Avignon, which had been delayed due to strong winds the previous weekend. An interesting evening indeed …
