We went to visit ‘my’ chateau, a surprisingly intact 14th century chateau fort in nearby Le Breuil-sous-Argenton. I say ‘mine’ but I am one of over 1000 co-lords who together helped save this building and will work to restore it, using old methods.
I came across a fundraising appeal online for the Chateau Fort L’Epaubinay at Le Breuil-sous-Argenton, asking for €50 donations to help buy the building. When the appeal closed the orginal target of €550,000 had been exceeded by a considerable amount, leaving funds to get on with restoration.
Donors are invited to become shareholders in the venture, hence I can say “my Chateau”
The first ever tourist period for the place had just started, and we went down to see what had already been done, in terms of clearing the site, planning and so on. One of the first things that has been done is to create a wine to celebrate, very sensible!
